The problem they solve is specific. Kaloud's own Samsaris bowls have a lip cut for the Lotus to seat on. Most other bowls do not. Put a Lotus on a lipless bowl and it sits loose, rocks when you turn the lid, and leaks heat around the gap. The sleeve gives it a lip.
