CVN-70 has been America's Pacific powerhouse for over forty years — and she's still going strong.

USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) is a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier that has served the fleet since 1982. Named after Georgia Congressman Carl Vinson, the father of the modern American Navy, CVN-70 has deployed to virtually every theater of operations and participated in historic events from Operation Desert Strike to hosting the first-ever college basketball game on a carrier. Homeported in San Diego, Carl Vinson continues to serve as a premier force projection platform, carrying a full carrier air wing and over 5,000 personnel. Her nuclear power plant gives her virtually unlimited range and endurance.
